Napoleon lured the combined Austrian and Russian armies into a trap by feigning weakness, then struck their weakened center while they tried to outflank him. The crushing victory ended the Third Coalition and forced Austria to sue for peace. Napoleon himself considered Austerlitz his finest battle, a masterpiece of military deception and tactical execution.
